My Friends are Muses

One of my all-time favorite artists is Alejandro Ospina, a London-based Colombian artist, who happens to be a friend of my family’s. So you know he rulez.

He has a show tomorrow at the Witzenhausen Gallery, based in Amsterdam but with a NY Location, so you know it rulez.

Alejandro’s recent paintings explores the inter-connectedness of us all via our favorite social media tool…Facebook! (like how i linked to facebook?) Basically, put in another way, he creeped around my facebook and took a liking to my interesting, and photogenic group of friends, and painted photos I had up. He told me last night that he literally had folders on some of my friends. He really puts a spin on portraiture, fuzzing out faces and expressions, and developing a story through body-language. It’s funny to see my friends as muses. They’re have so much expression even without their weird faces.

Recently, I made all my photo albums invisible to everyone except for Alejandro, cos I don’t want to stand in the way of an artist and his inspiration.

Here’s Ruthie and Ian…He thought you guys were dating…

That’s sexy Conti and some porkslap beer (who are graciously providing us with some of our delicious beer tomorrow)

That’s me, Marcella and Ramona and a bridge in Maine

One of my personal faves…David with a surgeon mask, and some plants.

Check out more of his stuff on his website www.alejandroospina.com. He did another series of slutty girls’ internet profile photos. Great stuff.

Yeah, so I don’t know who reads this, probably no-one important but if you are in the NYC area, please do come!
